Information for Quantum Mechanics I -- G4021


Text: Introduction to Quantum Mechanics by David J. Griffiths

Material: Cover Schroedinger's equation in 1-D,3-D, angular momentum, spin, Hydrogen atom, many-electron systems, description of quantum mechanics in terms of state vectors

We will cover chapters 1-5 of the text + selected topics outside the text as time permits.

There will be 6-7 homework assignments. Students are encouraged to work together. The important point is to learn the material.

A take home midterm . You can also look at the score distribution .

Grading: HWK 40%, Midterm 20%, Final 40%

Office Hours: Thursday 2:30-5 + by appointment

Recitation: Wed 5-6 in 705 Pupin (across from the physics department office), instructor Serban Smadici


Final Exam: Tuesday, Dec 19, 9-12. Same style as midterm.
