Text: Introduction to Quantum Mechanics by David J. Griffiths
Material: Applications of Quantum Mechanics (time independent and time dependent perturbation theory, variational principle, WKB approximation, scattering theory, etc.)
We will cover chapters 6-11 of the text + Quantum Statistical mechanics + selected topics outside the text as time permits.
There will be 6-7 homework assignments. Students are encouraged to work together. The important point is to learn the material.
A take home midterm (here is
last years )
covering chapters 5-8 will be given on March 8.
Grading: HWK 40%, Midterm 20%, Final 40% Office Hours: Thursday 2-5 + by appointment

FINAL EXAM: Tuesday, May 8, 9-12 in 420 Pupin. All the
material covered this semester are fair game for the exam,
with somewhat more emphasis on the topics
covered since the midterm (time dependent perturbation theory, scattering
and relativistic QM).
Office hours: Monday, May 7 from 10-12 and 2-5.
