The web page
There is no web page. There is only nothingness. I am too lazy to make
this page very snazzy. "Bells and Whistles" usually means using the much
maligned (yet underrated) tag. Enjoy what you
can....
The Story
I spent most of my developmental years in Delaware (no jokes, please... I've
heard them ALL), and graduated from Newark High.
I went on to get an undergraduate degree at MIT. Not satisfied with an S.B. in Physics, I
went on to Columbia University to obtain an M.A., an M.Phil., and a Ph.D. (all
in Physics).
One of my brothers, Andrew, attended Loyola University in New Orleans,
and is now finishing up his second bachelor's (this time in animation)
at the University of the Arts in Philly. The other one, Joe, was a
proud and snobbish member of the Brown University student body. He's
now a part of the art scene in SoCal as an MFA student at UCSD. My
mother teaches Spanish at Middletown High School, and my dad is an
subcontractor for quality-assurance inspections.
The Life
Life? What's that? I remember a time, long ago, when the phrase "free time"
actually meant something. Alas, as they say... "When I was a child, I spake
as a child.... When I became a man, I put away childish things..."
So what is it in life that I pursue on a day to day basis? Sleep, that
elusive treasure, is one thing. But I mostly spend my time thinking about
physics. I WAS a physics grad student at Columbia University, and a member of
Nevis Lab's Heavy Ion group. One
day I wrote a thesis, and the data came from Experiment 910 (BNL
AGS).
Here is the current state of my graduate work:
- May 16th, 2001
- Thesis title: "Delta Resonance Production in Proton-Nucleus Collisions at
12.3 GeV/c"
- Relevent References
The torch or the firehose?
During my stay at the Columbia home for wandering physicists, I have had the
privilege and pleasure of the following teaching experiences:
- Spring 1999: Science Honors Program, Programming in C (Instructor)
- Fall 1999: Science Honors Program, Programming in C (Instructor)
- Spring 1998: Science Honors
Program, Programming in C (Instructor)
- Fall 1997: Science Honors Program, Programming in C (Instructor)
- Spring 1997: Barnard College, Intro to Electromagnetics (Lab TA)
- Fall 1996: Barnard College, Intro to Mechanics (Lab TA)
- Spring 1996: Columbia College, 1802 Accelerated Electromagnetism
(Recitation Instructor)
- Fall 1995: Columbia College, 1801 Accelerated Mechanics (Recitation Instructor)
- Fall 1995: Barnard College, Intro to Mechanics (Lab TA)
- Spring 1995: Columbia College, Intro to Electromagnetics (Lab TA)
- Fall 1994: Columbia College, Intro to Mechanics (Lab TA)
- Spring 1994: Columbia College, Intro to Electromagnetics (Lab TA)
- Fall 1993: Columbia College, Intro to Mechanics (Lab TA)
Beer! Beer! Beer!
An obsession for this magical potion has started me on a home-brewing
adventure. I highly recommend doing it for anyone who loves beer. Like my
friend Mike Larkin sez, "It's like you're cooking. Except you're making
beer."
Here are some links to great beers and beer-brewing suppliers:
Is that UNIX book you're holding, or are you just happy to see me?
Though I am a physicist by trade, my tools rest soundly in the realm of
computing. I am a long time user of Macintosh, but for various reasons this
particular OS no longer suits my needs. To satisfy my computing needs, and my
all-around geeky nature, I built my own PC.
There are a number of programs I consider essential to running a computer.
Paying Tribute
Many of my friends are on the net. Here's your opportunity to touch some of
their lives:
- Joe Winter. My little
brother has hit the net. It will never be the same, I am sure.
- Steve
Franks is one of my good pals from high school.
- Lisa Choi doesn't have a web page. Maybe she should; it would keep her
from getting bored at work.
- Chris Minekime (better known as Thor): follow this link or suffer
the consequences
- Scott Sinawi. He was
my apartment-mate.
- Jay and Ali have their own company, called Digital Disciples.
