Limits for Resolution Convolution
Last Update: 13-Jul-05
Problem
Fitted lifetimes for fits using resolution deconvolution consistently
come out lower than input.
See v5.0 fits
for details.
Source
The source of the problem was that a fixed (and limited: 0 - 0.4 cm)
range of Lxy(true) values was used in the convolution.
For events with high Lxy(meas) this cuts off the resolution
convolution and effectively deweights long t0 events.
Solution
Set the Lxy(true) limits for the convolution for each event
based on Lxy(meas) and σ(evt):
-
Lxy(true) = [ Lxy(meas) - Nσ :
Lxy(meas) + Nσ ]
-
Choose N to be sufficiently large (~10)
-
Set Lxy(true)-lo = 0 if Lxy(meas)-Nσ < 0
