Hi Mikolaj,
Could you (or someone in the cc list) give me an update on the
L1Cal/TAB->L2 integration. Were you able to check the data for errors?
What is the status with the glink errors (+protocol errors)?
It is very important to
understand the origin of these errors as soon as possible.
Depending on
their origin, we may need to ask for help from an engineer.
Hi Nikos,
Yes, I tested bit error rate few days ago.
But the statistics is limited so far to 100k broadcasts
(104 32-bit words of data each) from TAB to L2Beta.
I noticed a factor of 10 difference between tested VTM
channels 0..3. I tested only one set of VTM+FIC cards.
But have two VTMs and two FICs available for testing in total
(+ 4 optical fibers as well).
Description of my tests are attached. I have HEX dumps of
all bad events stored in ASCII files in case somebody wants
to look at them.
The bit error rate varies from: 4.6e-5 to 3.5e-4.
As I looked at these bad events it seems that in most of the
cases there is a single bit swapped in one word only.
The fact that we are loosing events at such small
broadcast rate (24Hz) indicates that control bits
(start/stop of the event) are lost sometimes as well.
Mikolaj.
