RUN 2B L1CAL MEETING MINUTES 19 September, 2002 Jiri Bystricky Noise in the L1Cal Simulation -------------- o see plot linked off of agenda o Problem w/ noise implementation in L1Cal simulation - bugs in both old (spring 02) and new (in cvs) versions . note: old bug not so bad - without noise and smearing: both old and new agree - New code: bug in rounding ==> very high rates . negative Et val's rounded to lowest (negative) value . removing this bug ==> good agreement w/ old code - Old code: bug = noise shifted to more negative values . smearing also done differently > old on Et > new on E o Differences b/w corrected new and old codes due to old code bugs - also minimum negative values different . new = 6 lsb's = -1.5 GeV > anything lower than this set to -1.5 . old = -10 GeV > anything lower thrown out - cuts different . use >= for jet and eta thresh in new code (> in old) - LM finding . new code finds local maxima using information from all eta, then applies eta cuts to results > this is the correct thing to do o Bug fix will be put in CVS today o Results used for Lehman presentation - all are from old version of code, which is quite consistent with corrected new version Paris Workshop -------------- o Scheduled for 4-6 November o Will include all Run IIb Level-1 (and Level-2?) systems o Patrick will send mail soon with the initial announcement
