RUN 2B L1CAL MEETING MINUTES 1 May, 2003 Present o Fermilab: V.Pavlicek, S.Rapisarda o MSU: o Nevis: H.Evans, J.Mitrevski, J.Parsons o Northeastern: D.Wood o Rice: P.Padley o Saclay: Status of the Data Pump: ----------------------- o Internal document being passed around - will be available soon o New engineer Stefano Rapisarda has joined the effort o Question: how many of the 32 channels have to be independent? - Independent means: tentative assignment of importance . different amplitude - most important . different timing - next most . different signal shapes - least important Status from Nevis: Hal Evans ----------------- o VME/SCL Interface - at fabricator now - back in 10 days o TAB - Final checking of layout being done - Submit board next week o Cables and Connectors - Choice of ADF-to-TAB cables/connectors has been made . see Hardware web page http://www.nevis.columbia.edu/~evans/l1cal/hardware/hardware.html - After discussion with AMP: much more efficient/inexpensive to order full complement of cables/connectors for entire system now . need to order some cables now for the summer integration tests . small quantity orders are ~60% more expensive than large orders . we need 300 cables/connectors ==> total order $20K (budgeted in schedule $20K) - Note: these cables have been extensively tested with Channel-Link receivers/transmitters . no errors observed at transmission rates much higher than those in L1Cal . b.e.r. limits < 10^-14 - Will check with Marvin & John Anderson about any safety issues Goals of the Summer Integration Test: Hal Evans ------------------------------------ o See Integration Tests web page http://www.nevis.columbia.edu/~evans/l1cal/hardware/ hardware.html#integration o SCL Signals - should try to get Dan to do the integration of this as early as possible o Philippe is getting a PC for use in the TCC - can this be used for the summer integration test? - need to discuss what would be involved here o SBS/Bit3 - should get another for use at Fermilab . could borrow one of these short-term from Fermilab (617-6U) . prep has adapters - Nevis has a 618 - Saclay uses a 616 (non-DMA) - all of these models should operate in a very similar manner . Paul has not seen a difference when using different models Any Other Business ------------------ o Production Readiness Review for Cal-Track Match System scheduled for end-May - should have someone from Nevis involved
