RUN 2B L1CAL INTEGRATION MEETING MINUTES 3 March, 2005 Present o Fermilab L.Bagby, M.Cwiok, H.Evans, C.Johnson, S.Lammers, J.Parsons, G.Pawloski, V.O'Dell, J.Mitrevski, M.Mulhearn, Md.Naimuddin, R.Smith, A.Stone, D.Wood o MSU M.Abolins, J.Biehl, C.Brock, D.Edmunds, P.Laurens, R.Unalan Discussion of Pre-Installation Tests in the Test Area ------------------------------------------------------ o System Overview: see Mike's slides o System Testing Periods 1) Crucial Milestone: ADF-to-TAB tests 2) Vertical Slice Test 3) System Functioning Tests Period 1 -------- o Main Goal: test ADF-to-TAB interface at full speed o Hardware Needed (to come with Dan next week) - ADF cards - Control crate - need to set up VI . directions will be sent from MSU o Firmware - need to include pseudo-random number receiver in TAB o Online Software - will run ADF and TAB standalone control software separately . but using same computer and Bit3 o BLS-to-ADF System Work (in parallel) - suggestion in ADF PRR (and later) to modify paddle card to make cabling easier . extend to edge of back of crate include P0 connector (cables to TAB) . this means that we have to be careful with transmission lines - card cage for paddle cards plugging in back of ADF crate available from Wiener Period 2 -------- o Main Goal: Data to all external systems o Order of Tasks 1) TAB --> Tape . this will be a new geographic sector . getting power supplies for readout crate . need to get VRBs, SBC, VRBC, etc. . SCL for VRBC . need ethernet connection to DAQ . initial tests b/w stores as independent run . Software for this > COOR configuration . Software to read it off tape > hex dump > unpacker ==> Need someone in charge of this ! 2) BLS-to-ADF Transition System - not a bench-test of BLS-to-ADF system, rather a sanity check that we can see data - probably have to use prototype BLS-to-ADF system for this 3) GAB --> TFW - need to check that these signals are ok 4) TAB --> L1Muon - cables to Cal-Track have been laid 5) TAB/GAB --> L2 o Online Software - merge separate ADF and TAB/GAB control software . an opportunity for involvement from new people o Offline Software - compare splitter data with simulation . opportunity for involvement Period 3 -------- o Main Goals: System stability and scalability o Online Software - EPICS - COOR - will want to include L1Cal data in normal data stream . from time to time in physics runs . as often as possible out of physics Other Business -------------- o Collaboration Review - need to think about when this should be done / what it should comprise o Recording progress - Chip's weblog - Online logbook
