RUN 2B L1CAL MEETING MINUTES 5 April, 2005 Present o Fermilab L.Bagby, S.Lammers, M.Mulhearn, M.Naimuddin, N.Varelas o MSU J.Benitez, D.Edmunds, P.Laurens o Nevis H.Evans, C.Johnson o Northeastern E.Barberis, D.Wood o York W.Taylor Nevis: TAB/GAB (H.Evans) -------------- o New EM algorithm - discovered pathologies when the Atlas algorithm was implemented in a piplelined way ==> multiple local maxima for 2TT ROIs - finding a solution has proved to be tricky . we are evaluating a very promising possibility now - if the proposed solution works then no modifications will be necessary to the EM algorithm simulation (I think) . other solutions may require modifications though o Implementing trigger term creation firmware in GAB MSU: ADF v2 (D.Edmunds) ----------- o All ADFv2 cards are now at MSU - no problems found so far - 50% of cards examined (including at least one of each species) - spare components back from assembly house o 2nd SCLD card received from Saclay - have loaded MSU firmware --> it works o 2nd Wiener crate brought back from Fermilab for multi-crate tests at MSU o Have tested wiring of transition system by injecting signals in it at Fermilab and checking that they arrive at proper place in ADF BLS-to-ADF Transition System (L.Bagby) ---------------------------- o New paddle card for ADF-to-TAB cables (reviewed last week) - make sure that eye-pattern is ok . check on tests done at Nevis - Understand mechanical constraints of new card using mechanical mock-up . this Friday - once this is understood can start with layout Test System ----------- o TAB-to-GAB data transmission now working o ADF-to-TAB test status - ADF in state where it puts out constant data for EM and HAD - try to read out at the TAB - get data in correct channels - but data is corrupted . chances are this is a misunderstanding in the new synchronization scheme o L2/L3 Data - optical to copper probe available for looking at TAB output - All hardware for the TAB to L3 test is set up . TAB, fiber, VTM, VRB, VRBC, SBC, etc. - Possibilities for doing these tests . "D0-Mode" get L2 Accepts from SCL > requires special trigger configuration files - now created > runs in independent mode > trying to get it to run parasitically in global run . "Standalone Mode" use test mode of SCL daughterboard > using special firmware on SCL daughterboard on both VRBC and VME/SCL . will start out with the standalone mode o Windows machine on Fermi domain as of today Simulation (W.Taylor) ---------- o Small change to simulator needed to be able to run all algorithms (EM, JET, TAU) simultaneously o Also waiting for input from Roger/Bob on L2 details
