RUN 2B L1CAL MEETING MINUTES 9 August, 2005 Present o Fermilab L.Bagby, M.Cwiok, C.Fantasia, G.Ginther, M.Johnson, S.Lammers, M.Mulhearn, Md.Naimuddin, V.O'Dell, G.Pawloski, P.Renkel, A.Roe, A.Stone, M.Verzocchi, R.Unalan o MSU C.Brock, D.Edmunds o Nevis H.Evans o Northeastern E.Barberis, D.Wood o York W.Taylor (apologies to those I couldn't see) Status from Nevis ----------------- o G-Link Receiver Test Card now working - made first (prelim) BER measurements using it http://www.nevis.columbia.edu/~evans/l1cal/columbia/columbia.html --> Testing - ran for ~4 hours ==> BER < 10^-12 - more extensive tests planned for next week o New VME/SCL card now tested at a basic level - if it continues to function as expected will make two more for Fermilab Status from MSU --------------- o finishing off documentation for safety review Test Area: (Bagby/Mulhearn/Lammers) ---------- o TAB Timing & Data - 3/4 TAB timing parameters now set to final values - 4th parameter should be finished soon - apparent corruption in TAB L2/L3 data was due to the fact that ICR energies are added to the other TTs o Cal-Track - have sent signals to the system with correct timing - still working on measuring latency to Cal-Track - will also investigate that data is as expected o L2/L3 Splitter study - new firmware for VRB will allow BER measurements - can also read launch power out of VTM o ORC - preliminary review yesterday . have addressed the few things he suggested - should be finished by Friday o Working on comparison with IIa TTs and precision readout - have recorded data in a hand-pulser run - "by-hand" examination ==> things look basically ok, but still some mysteries - will work on unpacker when Todd gets back on Thursday - next step: use calorimeter pulser instead of hand pulser L1Cal Technical Readiness Review -------------------------------- o Scheduled for August 26-27 - see Draft Charge and Task List posted off of agenda - see L1CTT review (29 July) for an example http://www-d0.fnal.gov/~lucifer/RunIIb/Welcome.html o 3 Main Areas 1) System Integration 2) Infrastructure and Installation 3) Online/Offline Software + Simulation and Trigger List + Documentation o Possible Review Structure - short introductory talk - one presentation on each of the 4 areas above o Please have documentation ready by August 19 - Hal will set up a web page that brings all of this together The Pulser Tool (P.Renkel) --------------- o see slides linked off agenda
