RUN 2B L1CAL MEETING MINUTES 18 October, 2005 Present o Fermilab J.Benitez, G.Ginther, S.Lammers, M.Mulhearn, N.Varelas o FSU T.Adams o Indiana H.Evans o MSU C.Brock, D.Edmunds, P.Laurens o Nevis J.Parsons o Northeastern D.Wood (apologies to those I couldn't see) Installation Schedule Discussion -------------------------------- o Director's Installation Review on Tuesday (10/25) - purely technical & schedule - Alan will be giving the talk for L1Cal o Changes to Installation b/c of delayed shutdown - main changes will be in personnel . hopefully additional Fermilab engineer - no change to the general schedule of the installation foreseen Report on Test Area Activities ------------------------------ o Firmware-Simulation Cross-checking (Lammers/Fantasia) - Cory has validated Jet, EM and MEt algorithms w/ ~7K events . one outstanding issue with EM algo - eta swapping is now done correctly - these tools will be usable as part of the final online suite o GAB Integration (Mulhearn) - checking timing w/in GAB - some problems w/ TAB-to-GAB link . found a bug in TAB Chip-10 firmware (double-counts BC 1) (not sure when this was introduced) - after bug-fix things seem to work much better - note: does not affect previous timing measurements o Transition System Status (Benitez) - see slides posted on agenda - ATCs: 64 in hand (seem good) - still under test . rest by end Oct . 15 spares - PPCs: 41 in hand (seem good) - still under test . rest by end Oct . 20 spares - Testing System ready to go o Loose Ends - "8s problem" fixed: turned out to be a broken pin on the TAB backplane - work started on TCC interface for TAB/GAB . Mike will iterate w/ Philippe on this - using new VME/SCL card - have permission to do an L1Cal special run once per week . are training "non-experts" to be able to do these runs - need for 8 TABs at Fermilab: probably the end of the month . coordinate this with work at Nevis o Latency - measurements by Cory indicate that latency of Cal-Track data will be very close to the "3 BC beyond current L1Accept" limit when all timing "slack" has been taken out . b/c this is projected to be so close to the limit, the idea is to make a latency measurement with all the slack taken out as quickly as possible . this reduces the ability to shift the sampling point of the ADF signals - plan to run with new (reduced) timing of ADF: week of Oct 24 . SCLD firmware change . need to re-check timing of signals (on scope) with beam in Tevatron - will also have to adjust TAB timing . delay parameters downloaded to TAB - should be quick - should we leave the timing "without slack" after the test ? . limits our ability to do tests of BLS signal timing . but staying with the new (no slack) timing allows the system to be exercised in its final configuration o Monitoring - meeting about L1Cal2b monitoring last week . hammering out details of what will be monitored - Basic Monitoring is essentially defined . TT information from ADF . TAB/GAB status registers - still thinking about ways to identify hot towers as part of monitoring
