RUN 2B L1CAL MEETING MINUTES 01 November, 2005 Present o Fermilab E.Aguilo, L.Bagby, J.Benitez, C.Fantasia, S.Lammers, M.Mulhearn, A.Roe, A.Stone, D.Wood o FSU T.Adams o Indiana H.Evans o MSU C.Brock, D.Edmunds, P.Laurens o Northeastern E.Barberis o UIC N.Varelas (apologies to those I couldn't see) Test Stand Status ----------------- 1) Communications Crate is now installed on the sidewalk (P.Laurens) see notes posted on agenda - TCC connection available (D0TCC3) . account requested for this machine (using d0l1 for now) . have left old Bit3 card - 2 more ADF crates have been added . including VI cards . so now have 4 ADF crates - but one is being used for cable testing - connection b/w ADF crate and Linux TCC tested . testing going well - connection to TAB/GAB crate . testing going well - have now started a run going using the new TCC including ADF and TAB cards - use TCC test program to check that correct data is being written to the SBC - Questions . Final ADF crate assignment > Alan will think about this . How much longer will the cable testing take / when will people want the 4th crate ? > could bring the MSU crate if necessary 2) TAB/GAB final crate - rods are now here --> all mechanics in place . need to do load testing . and build fuse panels - still need ORC . should be able to finish this in a few weeks - all TABs and new GAB are now here . haven't had a chance to look at them yet 3) Transition System - now have 60 complete sets - waiting for 40 PPCs + ATCs 4) Timing adjustments - ADF-to-TAB-to-GAB now completely timed in - "minimal" ADF timing now in place . change to SCLD - TAB latency also tuned to bare minimum - GAB latency measured . 6 BC's before current L1Accept time - Sabine has got us permanent and/or terms in TFW . we have taken over the 16 FPS terms 5) TAB L2/L3 Buffers - changes now made in firmware - documentation will follow - GAB L2/L3 is next in line 6) Cal-Track Latency - measurement now made with minimal timing for ADF and TAB - latency = L1Muon + 2.1 BCs (3491 ns) = 1.45 BC's after current L1Accept - easily w/in 3 BC's after current L1Accept - robustness tests of the system . scope pictures of ADF signals look good . have run for ~1 hour to Cal-Track ==> BER < 1e-12 - need to decide which ADF features that were given up for this change can be bought back Response to TRR Report ---------------------- o Zero-difference in had TT energies - note: this is in Run IIa system - will check that pedestal subtraction does not affect this o No hardware mod's to VTM are necessary - increasing initialization time sorts out the problem o Should we ask for a Fermilab engineer again here - probably not
