RUN 2B L1CAL MEETING MINUTES 29 November, 2005 Present o Fermilab M.Abolins, E.Aguilo, L.Bagby, D.Edmunds, C.Fantasia, G.Ginther, S.Lammers, M.Mulhearn, V.O'Dell, A.Roe, A.Stone, N.Varelas o Indiana H.Evans o MSU J.Benitez, C.Brock, P.Laurens (apologies to those I couldn't see) Hardware Status --------------- o New fibers are here - they are of the right length o TAB/GAB crate power supply attached to load - burning smell noticed - call into Wiener o Bug in Monitoring program fixed - program has now run for 20 hours without problems o ADFs - install ATCs LVDS cables first o Cabling/Installation - have come up with a plan for safely disconnecting BLS cables . and protecting them - note: decalbing will also involved removing existing ribbon cables . this will add more time to decabling (should be w/in contingency) - will also need to install a protective cover on Master Clock rack - need to get remaining LVDS cables from Nevis as quickly as possible - should have ORC people look at crates before cabling EM Algorithm Discussion (cont): S.Lammers ------------------------------- (see plots linked off the agenda) o Position Resolution: effect of removing masks - difference in resolution b/w w/ and w/out masks is negligible o Based on this it seems safe to get rid of the masks, however... - it is possible to retain the masks in the firmware (enableable with a downloadable switch) but only if we switch to indexing the EM objects by the upper/right corner (rather than lower/left as it is now). - Consequences . EM and Jets will be indexed using a different convention . have to change the L1Cal EM simulation . have to change CalTrack simulation and firmware > preliminary discussions w/ Stefan Anderson indicate that this is probably not a big difficulty for them - The safety we gain by doing this is probably worth these consequences though . if you can think of a reason not to do this, let us know as quickly as possible
