SKELETON AGENDA:

The goal of this meeting is to bring together all of the people working on STT design issues so that everyone can have a clear picture of where the project stands. We can then discuss how to proceed.

It is anticipated that the meetings will last all day on Friday. The structure will be very informal.

Please let Hal know if you would like to present something or if you have any suggestions.

If you would prefer to stay near Nevis (in which case you should also rent a car), the following hotels are convenient:

  1. Ardsley Acres Hotel
    Tel: (914) 693-2700
For those of you staying at the Ardsley Acres directions to it are quite simple. Just follow the directions for getting to Nevis Once you're on the Saw Mill River Parkway going North Instead of turning left as you get off the Parkway at exit 17, turn right. Take the next possible right and you'll be on the road that runs in front of the Ardsley Acres. In fact you can see the hotel from the Parkway on your right just before you get to exit 17.

TRANSPORTATION:

The most convenient airport for both Columbia University and Nevis Labs is La Guardia. Taxis from the airport to campus cost approximately $17 + $3.50 for the Triboro bridge toll + tip. If you fly into JFK airport a taxi to campus will cost a flat rate of $30 + tolls + tip. For those planning to stay near Nevis, renting a car is the best option.

For directions to Nevis and the Columbia University campus see the following locations:

For those staying in New York City and not wishing to rent a car (cars are a major pain in the City) transportation to and from Nevis will be arranged. A van will leave from the Columbia campus vicinity on Friday morning and will return to campus in the evening.

VAN SCHEDULE:

NYC--Nevis Depart 8:30 am Corner 121st St. and Amsterdam Ave.
(A'dam is one street East of B'way)
Nevis--NYC Depart after meeting In front of Nevis

EVENTS:

A post-meeting dinner will be organized in New York City. Please let Hal know as soon as possible if you plan to attend (and if you have any preferences for food!)

We have reservations at a restaurant called Metisse which is located at 105th and Broadway for 7:30 on Friday evening. If you would like to go but haven't yet told me so - please do so as soon as possible. The restaurant is quite small and I will have to negotiate to add more people to our group. The earlier I start - the more likely it will work.
