Inbox Mail-Count Timeline for W.A. Zajc

I get a lot of mail. Nothing to be proud of, just a fact related to my present research activities. I try to deal with as quickly and directly as possible; the extent to which I succeed is a strong function of time and other workload. You can judge for yourself if I am managing:

1998 figures , 1999 figures , 2000 figures , 2001 figures , 2002 figures , 2003 figures , 2004 figures

2005 figures

2006 figures

2007 figures

2008 figures

Lessons for students:

  1. It's much better to do something now then put it off
  2. I thought I could handle the incoming mail torrent simply by insuring that I left each day with less e-mail than I started the day with. What's wrong with this logic?
  3. Only by making a graph did I realize how badly strategy in #2 was failing. Never stare at columns of numbers; make a graph.
