    STUDY OF LUMI RECONSTRUCTION ALGORITHMS

    TASK DESCRIPTION PEOPLE STATUS
Acceptance calculation  Calculate spectrometer acceptance using GEANT students LumiFast simulation finished
Exit window studies Study conversion probability in the exit window. Study effects of secondary interactions inside the window. Keewee + MH COMPLETED!
Algorithms to calculate Luminosity Specification of needed data, development and implementation of algorithms all In Progress
Systematic error studies Stability of the luminosity measurement against various factors has to be examined in order to be able to assign error on the measurement. MH+all In progress
In situ alignment of the system Luminosity calculation is sensitive to relative alignment of the exit window, collimators, magnet and the detectors to the photon beam. Few in situ methods has been proposed and are in investigation phase. MH+Yuanbo Started
Energy calibration Energy calibration will be done by use of the moving collimator with 2mm slit in it. Measurement of end-point spectrum of bremstrahlung photons will cross-check the calibration. MH+all Started
Pile-up correction function Correction for pileup has to be applied in order to get corrected rates. The correction function will be studied by GEANT. MH Fast simulation studies ready.
Smearing function In order to unfold measured profiles we need smearing function S(x,y,E,xg,yg,Eg) as a probability to reconstruct x,y,E given xg,yg,Eg of the photon hitting the exit window.
This study requires to wotk with GEANT.
    ? Not started yet
Magnetic field  Magnetic field has been measure at few points. The goal is to interpolate measurements between the points and with the help of Maxwell equations calculate other two components of the field. Errors due to interpolations seem to be non-negligible and have to be studied. In addition proton beam-pipe shielding has been moved since measurements. The corresponding change will be calculated using program OPERA.  Monica + MH+YN COMPLETED!
